Today is the day .....
When I first started making the Waldorf .. I was afraid I could not make them and if I did they would not be very good ..However, I was determined that my family members were going to have these darling dolls in their arms if they wanted them ... so I forged on ...
Then after making 30 dolls my first doll sold ... To someone in a different country than mine and to someone I never met before ... WHOA .. I was amazed and astounded that this had happened ...
I had just a few month before lost my job of 14 years and all my pension and retirement so I became determined to make more dolls and to learn everything I could to make the best quality Waldorf dolls available ... And I wanted them to be available to all children ... EVERYWHERE...
As time went on ... I began to sell more dolls and I also became aware that the doll world is not this "Lovely cuddly" world where sunshine and lollipops grow ...
There are people - marketers and doll makers and doll buyers alike that have done everything they can to drive the prices of these dolls out of control .. Until they have become so expensive that only the children that belong to rich families can own a Well made Waldorf ...
After much time, and personal expense I learned all I could and NOW I am fighting back !!!!!!
I have created a YouTube channel and I am making and posting Waldorf and Cloth Doll making videos for free ...
Now I know in my heart that every Momma and even Some Daddies that want their children to have the Waldorf will be able to create these Dolls at the price of the supplies ...
Since I have started this endeavor I have been ostracized out of the doll market and many other doll makers and buyers have harassed me and made my life very difficult ... And now I am more determined than ever to see the doll world be taken over again by the CHILDREN ... not the big money people that are using them to make a fast buck .....

I LOVE MAKING DOLLS
The thing I am having trouble with is the supply of doll material. I can't find it in Ohio anywhere and I would have to pay for shipping from an online and am not sure of the quality of the material that would be coming - Plus, they want to sell it as small cuts and not continuous yardage and it is quite expensive as it is. Most places seem to be in Canada - DO you have any idea where the doll material can be purchased by the yard and in the USA?
ReplyDeleteI have never made a Waldorf doll before but 40 years ago, I made a huge number of soft sculpture dolls. When Cabbage Patch could not be had - people asked me to see what I could do to help them get dolls for their daughters because they knew I could sew - and I was able to do that but now I can't even find that material locally so I though I'd try the Waldorf doll and the same problem - AND everyone says they have to be 'organic' now - my granddaughters are small and I want to make them each a doll but I can't afford 250.00 to buy one. I have 9 grandchildren - 6 of which are under 7
Hi ..... you can buy a lesser quality interlock knit here in the USA ... and that is really what I advise for your first couple of dolls ... However ,,, We can not buy the best quality doll skin for these dolls here in the USA ... .. It is knitted in china and shipped to Denmark and germany in huge bolts ...
